First Day of Kindergarten!

Tuesday was Talan's first day of Kindergarten!! He was so excited to go and even more excited that his Daddy got to take him. He is loving recess and snack time of course!!! He was excited to see his friends from preschool! He is Mr. Independent and doesn't want mom anywhere around, until the end of the day then he loves to see me! I am just excited that he is at my school so that I can walk by and peek at him once and awhile!

Ernie's and Tamar's Wedding

Ryker was in his first Wedding yesterday. He was a handsome lil guy! Rehersal on Friday didn't go very well but he came through on Saturday. Then they played hard at the reception, despite the 90 degree weather, both the wedding and reception were great!

Thanks to our good friends who have a boat and access to Rainbow Lake we were able to watch fireworks on the water. The boys loved riding in the boat and were pretty speechless during the fireworks, except for Ryker yelling, "WOW, see nother one!".

Baseball is almost over for the season, just one more game. Talan has done a great job with his hitting and his fielding. It's amazing how much growth he has made from last year. He loves baseball and were hoping this continues throughout his school career!

Splash Pad Fun

On Monday, Hawk Island in Lansing has free parking so Jarrah, Brady, the boys, and I met Maggie, Anna, and Will at the park to play in the water. The temp wasn't too bad but the wind and lack of sun made it a little chilly. However, other than chattering teeth and blue lips the kids didn't mind it much. We even made our way down to the beach where we were rudely told we weren't allowed in the water until life guards were on duty, oops. So we ate some lunch and went back to the splash pad. It was a fun time. We will be returning there real soon!!

Breakfast on the Farm

Dad, Rachel, Colton, Ryker, Talan, and I went to Breakfast on the Farm this morning. It was a really fun event. We had breakfast, went through the milking barn, saw some tractors, fed some baby cows, ate some ice cream and had a nice wagon ride back to our car. The weather was nice and fun was had by all!!

A few of us friends BBq'd tonight, tons of fun and it was great to see everyone. Baby Norah stole the show with her cuteness. The rest of the kids played so good together and I hate to admit this but Steve and Bird beat Rachel and I at Baggo. We will totally get them next time. The sun went down so sitting on the deck was enjoyable. We ended the night with a bonfire and smores.

Strawberry Picking

Bird and I took the kids today to pick Strawberries! They had so much fun. Talan wanted to find the biggest one and Ryker just wanted to pick every one. They each had their own container and weighed each one separately. We got a ton of really good strawberries and it was only like 5 bucks, BONUS!!!

Beach Time

There is new beach they put in about only 5 minutes from our house. Danielle and I took the kids there last weekend when it was so so hot. They all had so much fun and got a little sun too! We will defiantly be going back again soon.

Garden Time

Better late then never, we finally got our garden in last weekend. All that rain really messed planing up! After Bird got it rotatilled, the boys started raking it. Then we put in our plants. We didn't do any seeds this year, we usually have better luck with plants. We did a ton of cucumbers, a few kalirabi, few peppers, and one musk mellon. At first the plants look droopy but they are growing now. One cuc plant even has a tiny pickle, yum, yum!!

Preschool Graduation

Talan's Preschool Graduation was last night. I was so proud of him, he sang his little heart out, my performer! Papa and Rachel, Sissy, Bumpa and Grandma, Aunt Squeek and Uncle Paul all came out to help us celebrate. Now we are headed to Kindergarten, watch out, LOL!

Talan's first dance recital was this weekend. He was so cute and did such a great job. He was the best little shaker out there and his cart wheeler was to die for, lol. He was all smiles and sang and danced perfectly! I was such a proud Mommy! Bumpa and Grandma and Aunt Sissy came the first night and Papa, Rachel, Daddy,Ryker, Aunt Squeek, Bumpa(again) and Aunt Sissy (again) got to see the second night. He made everyone laugh over and over again with his cuteness!! See for your self.

Talan's Birthday Present

Talan got a real quad for his birthday. He was so excited. His Daddy had to train him how to use it but trust me it didn't take long and he was off galavanting around the yard. He also got a new helmet.

Ryker had his second gymnastics class tonight, he is doing really good. He gets a little restless at times and has a hard time waiting his turn but all in all it is going fairly well. I am pretty proud of him and he seems to enjoy it!

Soccer

This is Talan's spring season of Soccer and he is loving it. He plays every Saturday morning at 9:00. It is such a great program. He plays with a mix of girls and boys and there are about 50 pre-k and kindergarten kids. They practice drills and then they play mini games. He is doing better this season. He is more aggressive and will actually get in there and follow the ball. The last couple games have been really cold so were all hoping for warmer weather.

Seriously it has been over a year since I have posted anything, life is sooooo busy as you all know. My goal is to start making a better effort to update this blog for all my friends and family. So many of you are far far away and I want to make sure you still have access to what the Parsons are up too! Ryker is 2 now and Talan 5, wow how time goes super fast. Talan is finishing pre-school and more then ready for Kindergarten! Soccer season is upon us and his Dance recital is in two weeks. Tball starts next week and we are also doing Karate and Swimming this summer. Ryker is loving his library class and has just started gymnastics at Twistars. Busy, busy but I love it!! Bird has been working like crazy 9hour days and weekends too! The rain has given him a few breaks but not enough, he is tired! Teaching is going Awesome, I really do love my job :) Trying to manage time between work and family is the most challenging let alone keeping in touch with all my wonderful friends. Stay tuned for some new pic's I need to get them loaded. :)

The family went fishing on Saturday! Talan caught this huge crappie fish all by himself. Bird didn't believe him when he said, "Dad, I caught a fish!". But sure enough when Bird made his way over to where Talan was he had this huge fish all reeled in!! They took it to have it mounted on the way home! Bird already has the paperwork filled out to send in so Talan can be a master angular.Talan and proud Daddy!

Charter Fishing 2009

My Dad took my sister, Bird, and I up to Lake MI for a charter fishing trip. It was a little chilly and sprinkled on and off but it was so much fun. We did the afternoon fish and we brought home 10 fish. 4 Cohoe (spelling?), 5 King Salmon, 1 Brown Trout. It was a great time!!

I figured since summer is almost half over I should probably post some pictures! We have been enjoying our time off going to the park, playing outside, etc. Both boys are growing so fast! Talan is enjoying his library class and the summer reading program. He also did an sports activity hour at the park for a month. Ryker is still a very calm, happy kid. He continues to be a happy, healthy baby. Talan loves his brother and is a great help. Talan is enjoying summer, being outside, going to the library, and doing a sports activity in the park each week. Bird and I continue to play softball and hang out with our kids. So every Sunday we go to my dads for coffee and Talan gets animal pancakes. My dad started just making him Mickey Mouse pancakes and then he started taking requests. First Talan wanted a horse and the next week he wanted an elephant. Then he asked for a deer with horns. Today Talan got a bunny because it was Easter, although I didn't load that picture yet. New Addition to our Family!

Our family now has a wonderful new addition. A new baby boy: Ryker Donald Parsons. He was born on February 26th, 2009 at 2:33 in the afternoon. He was 7lbs 7oz and was 20 inches. We got to bring him home on Saturday and he has been doing really good. He sleeps a lot which is a total change from Talan. When he is awake he is bright eyed and happy. He loves to cuddle! He has a lot of hair and right now its a little dark. Talan's hair was dark too and then look what happened, it turned white. He looks just like Talan did at birth, it's almost like I gave birth to the same kid twice that's how similar their baby pictures look. Talan loves his new little brother and he has been such a good helper. He enjoys helping take care of him for now at least!Talan and his new baby brother!

Talan's New Room

Thanks to a wonderful, creative friend of the family, Talan's room is now complete. She came over and within just a few hours or more we had all the details painted on the walls of his room. There is a baseball border around the entire room, there is also a baseball glove with a 3D ball. She painted a baseball jersey with Parsons wrote on the back. She also put crossing bats above the closet with the year that he was born. It turned out very cute and I am so thankful for her help, she is so talented!

Gymnastic's Week 2

Talan enjoyed yet another gymnastics's class. He has a lot of energy but tries really hard to listen and follow directions. He practices his somersaults at home telling everyone he learned that "at my class".

Talan's First Gymnastic Class

Talan started his gymnastic classes tonight. He is a member of the twinkling stars gymnastics class at Twistars. He did really well, he was a little hyper with a lot of energy but for the most part he did what he was supposed to. He didn't want to leave when it was done but I assured him we would be back next week.

Trampoline Trouble

Talan's trampoline ended up on our roof on Sunday when it was so windy. It was such a heavy duty trampoline I am not sure how the ind lifted it. However, I do have the worst luck with trampolines. This is my 4th trampoline. I am not sure Bird will ever let us get another one. Bird was just glad it didn't take out the cable. How it jumped over the satellite I will never know.

Christmas Morning Talan was so excited to get up but was very disappointed when he didn't find Santa in the living room. After he got passed that he was excited to open presents!

Strawberry Wine

Visit with Santa

We went to visit Santa a week ago and Talan loved him, I think he sat on his lap 3 different times. We saw Santa again on Sunday at our family Christmas party and Talan was still overly excited to see Santa. Santa told Talan that he thought he had seen him earlier that week and Talan said; "Ya Santa, I was at your house!". The holidays are so much fun, Talan loved helping decorate our trees.

Papa helped cut our beautiful xmas tree for our front room. Too bad we walked about three miles to find it. It took us forever to drag it back to the front of the property. It was worth it though, the tree turned out beautiful.

Talan really loves the Manger Scene, he watches it all the time. He really wants to play with the animals I think but they are breakable so he is only allowed to look.

SO......... it's been a whole month since I've posted but I am now happy to report that I am finished with my Master in Special Education. It was a rough few months but totally worth it! Now I am just excited to enjoy the holidays with my family.

Trick or Treat

Talan and his cousins Perrien, Nolan, and Corbyn walked in the Leonard Halloween parade at my school. It was a long walk but thanks to Coryn's candy bag they all made it through! Halloween night we took Talan trick-or-treating with Perrien and Nolan. The boys did a good job! Talan had the routine down, he would run up to the door and scream trick or treat and then run back, hand me his candy and jump in his stroller to go to the next house. Happy Halloween

Talan has been waiting a long time to carve his pumpkin so on Sunday Bird and I decided it was time. He sad and watched as his dad cut the top of his pumpkin whichTalan says "Daddy you cut his head off". When Bird was scooping out the insides Talan just watched, he wouldn't touch it. This coming from a kid that loves to pick up bugs and dirt, who knows? Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend Rachel, Taylor, Talan and I went to Uncle Johns Cider Mill. There were so many people we couldn't believe it. The kids had fun walking through the pumpkin patch and playing in the children's yard. This one mom?

Saturday morning Talan and I and some of the Fam went to the Ovid Carriage Days Parade. Talan and Perrien got lots of candy and really enjoyed the bubbles that came out of the clown car. To all of my faithful blog checkers, I have to apologize for the lack of posts, between my new job and my 3 million MSU assignments I haven't had much time to post! It will get better at some point! Hang with me!The family is good, Talan is attempting to potty train but he's too busy to care most of the time. Bird hunted early doe season but no luck so hopefully his luck will change during bow and late gun season. Other than that not much new. I am just looking forward to December when I will be done with my masters degree, YAY!!

Nap or Play Time?

So today during Talan's nap time I went in to check on him and all I saw were a bunch of toys. Then I realized that Talan was in there too can you see him? This kid seriously is obsessed with his trucks and tractors so much that they end up in bed with him. That is after I leave the room he puts them all in bed with him. Apparently there wasn't enough room for him to lay too so he had to lay across his pillow. Caeserland

Saturday afternoon my cousin Leah and I took the kids to Caeserland. Perrien and Talan loved to run around and play. They had fun playing on the tunnels and slides, riding on the machines, and playing games. The kids had fun but it is such a workout for the parents because that place is always such a zoo! Talan and Perrien riding the horse together, it was either that or one of them cry because they both wanted to ride it.

Bowling Adventure

We took Talan for his first bowling experience last night. Our friends Danielle and Tommy and their kids Hannah and Hunter went too! The kids did great and we all had a lot of fun. We bowled two games and the second game we used cards to compete for the best poker hand and I hate to brag but I had the highest score and I won the poker hand too! I think really I just got lucky. Trisha and Paul's Wedding

Trisha and Paul finally tied the knot this weekend! It was a beautiful wedding and a fun time was had by all, some people had too much fun but they were very entertaining! Congrats! Talan was the ring bearer and he actually made it down the isle it was very cute but then he wanted to play on the steps, that's when I had to remove him from the church, well actually I handed him to someone to have them remove him from the church since I was supposed to be standing up in the wedding. YAY for me, I got a new job opportunity, teaching special education back in my home town of Ovid-Elsie. The drive will be so much nicer. I am very very excited, however I will miss my wonderful friends at CAA. I have a lot of anxiety about starting a new job, it will take some getting used to but I am so excited to meet my students.

I am also starting my final semester at MSU! While I will be taking a lot of classes to finish up, it will totally be worth because as of December I will have completed my Masters degree in Special Education!

Florida Vacation

FLORIDA VACATION
Talan and I spent a week in Florida visiting my Mom and Chris. Steve, Rachel, and Taylor went with us. We had a lot of fun and did a lot of different things. The weather was great, why anyone likes Michigan I will never know, I was definitely born to live in the heat, to bad I married a man who won't step foot out of Michigan. Anyway it was a great relaxing trip and it was great to get to spend time with my Mom and Chris, and I even got to see my long lost friend Stacey :)

Tractors and Pools

Talan is obsessed with tractors and it just so happened that one day when we were playing next door, Taylor's daddy brought home a big tractor. Talan of course was excited and Steve even let him ride in it. Talan was really enjoying riding in the tractor and beeping the horn!

4th of July

We started the 4th of July festivities off with dinner at Hooters, Woo Hoo!! We had a all you can eat hotwings coupon for our families. After dinner we headed to the Meridian Mall to watch the fireworks. I thought for sure Talan would love them but after about two he said, "Ok, lets go home now". I think he was just really tired. Fun Times.Here Trisha and Talan wait for there dinner.

Bird, Talan, and I went picking stawberries two weekends ago. Talan loved it but I think he ate more strawberries then he actually put in the basket. Its a good thing they didn't weigh him before we left! Here is a stawberry mom!

Pig Roast

Well its been a busy couple of weeks and I feel like I haven't posted a blog in forever. Here are a few of the pictures from the pig roast. Thank goodness my Aunt Carolyn took charge of the camera or I wouldn't have had any pictures. There were so many people I couldn't believe it, we went through an entire pig, 3 kegs, and two big cans of jungle juice. A lot of fun was had by all.

I think this is the only time I saw Bird that night!

Here is a picture of a few of the cars but seriously this isn't even 1/4 of them.

We tried to play a little volley ball. We tried again around 11pm that wasn't as successful in the dark.

Hair Cut Time

On Saturday Talan and I met my Dad at the barber for yet another hair cut. This child's hair grows so fast. Its a good thing Talan likes having it done. When he was all done he told me that it was my turn, so she pretended to cut my hair and he thought it was the funniest thing ever.

Landscaping and Gardening

Well after many weeks of working at the front landscaping it is finally done. On Saturday my dad's friends Al and Debbie brought me over some beautiful flowers and they help me place them and plant them. Then Dad and I went to Andy T's and bought the bushes that I wanted in with my flowers. On Sunday Dad went and got my mulch for the front and away he went. It was done in no time. Thanks Dad! I also got my garden planted on Sunday. No pictures yet though, not much to see. I planted beans, sugar snap peas, cucumbers, zuchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, peppers, and a pumpkin.

It's Done

The swing set is finally done and Talan loves it! Thanks to my Dad who finished the slide on Saturday, we got to enjoy it the rest of the weekend. Talan has decided that he doesn't need any help climbing the ladder up to the club house, which makes me very nervous. He also thinks that he can climb the rock wall by himself "No help me mom, me do it myself" He is Mr. Independent these days.

Here is the finished product, now I just have to buy sand to put in the bottom, to bad it takes 14 bags, wow!

Decks Done and Swing Set is Almost There!

Bird worked hard to get our deck done and boy does it look nice. We still have the scraps to pick up but the deck itself is all done. I can't wait to get some furniture for it and grill out! The swing set is one slide away from being done. Papa came last night and got the swings put on the set. As you can see Talan loves it!!

Projects, Projects, Projects

What a beautiful day it was yesterday so we all spent the afternoon outside. Talan watered the plants, bird worked on the deck, and my dad and cousin Eric started putting together the swing set. We stayed quite busy.

Talan's cousin Perrien came to play, they kept themselves quite busy while Leah and I helped sort the 1 million pieces that came with the swing set, SORRY DAD!Even Shadow was tired by the end of the night, which we all know is almost impossible.

Softball Begins

We started our coed softball team two Sunday's ago. We were pretty shaky the first game and lost, but we got right back out there the next week and won YAY! I think it was the crowd we brought with us.What a great batters stance Talan has, he's a natural.

Trisha's Wedding Shower

I had Trisha's wedding shower on Sunday. It was Hawiian themed and it was a lot of fun. She had a really great turn out and the decorations were awesome. Here is the Bride to be, isn't she beautiful!

I was checking all of the sale adds on Sunday and guess what?, One of the many swing sets I like was on sale! So... I called my Dad bright and early and begged him to go to Toys R Us right when they opened to pick one up for me. THanks Dad, Now we just have to get it put together!!!

So I started to put plants in the front of the house. I have a long ways to go but at least its a start. My Dad and his friends Al and Debbie came over and helped me make a plan of what may look good. She is going to bring be a bunch of filler flowers later! Stay tuned.............................

We are in the process of putting up our new deck. Ernie and Bird worked all day Saturday on it and then a few more of Bird's buddies came out sunday for more building fun. They made good progress but we still have a ways to go. Silly me I forgot to take pictures of the decks we had before we tore them down. We had two junky decks and when were done we will have one big deck with two levels. I will post again when its all done, hopefully soon!!

Talan enjoyed his birthday party! There were a ton of wonderful friends and family and Talan's little buddies. It was very hot and busy in Caesarland but all in all it went well. However I will never do that again on a Saturday in warm weather. Thanks to everyone for coming, you made the day special!

Mega 80's Rock!

We all went to club Rush (I think thats what its called now) to see the Mega 80's band last night and a fun time was had by all, Ok I know I had fun I am not sure about everyone else. And thanks to Big Daddy Taxi we all made it home safe!

My New Purse

This is a proud moment in any parents life when their son starts carrying a purse. I got a new one at a purse party last night and obviously Talan likes it just as much as me. He put it on his shoulder and said "Lets go Mom!" Bird didn't think it was as cute as I did!

Early Birthday Present

Talan was surprised to find a new scooter with his name on it when we got home this evening. Aunt Jeno and Uncle Don and Family had dropped off Talan's Birthday present a little early so that he could use it with this nice weather. As you can see from the pictures he enjoyed it very much and he is already a pro!!

Yard Work

We worked hard all afternoon tearing out the landscaping in the whole front of the house. It was lots of hard work but everyone pitched in even talan. He helped shovel and move rocks. It took a long time to get the Yucka plants out because of their huge deep roots(as you can see from the picture above). We did get them all out now we just have to decide what were going to put there so it doesn't look trashy and unfinished.

Iam sure Bird is very excited about hearing my ideas and all the hard work that will go with them. I will keep you updated!

More Friday Night Fun!

We have kinda started a friday night ritual between my family and my friend Danielle's family. We love getting together and letting the kids play while the adults indulge in some drinks and play some games. It is quite exciting and we have a riot! Catch Phrase is the game of choice and I am happy to report that the girls won most of the rounds last night even if Danielle didn't know what an airport was!! I ended my night a little earlier then everyone else, thanks to a little thing called Arbor Mist.
Jeanna even brought Carter over to play with the kids. Carter's favorite thing to do was shoot baskets in Talan's new basketball game. Judging by how many baskets he made I am guessing Jeanna and Brett have an NBA star on their hands.

My Great Grandma Dalton turned 90 years old last Saturday. She was in good spirits and cracking jokes like crazy. The family enjoyed visiting her especially Talan who was trying to steal her dinner, but whats new the kid loves to eat.

Friday Fun, Cards, and Basketball

Friday evening my friend Danielle, her husband, and their two kids Hannah and Hunter came to hang out, play cards, and watch the basketball game. It was sad to see MSU loose, but I didn't have them winning on my bracket so I guess it is all ok. My cousin/friend Christina joined us later for drinks and games. It was a fun but late night, wow time flys when your having fun. :)

The Parsons Family Will Be Whole Again!

We found out that Bird will be coming home from his 6 week work trip in Oregon. He will return next Monday and we are very excited. Talan misses his Daddy and his Daddy really misses him!

We are just hoping work picks up here a bit so that he will not have to return to Oregon. Keep your fingers crossed.
